2025: Starting Fresh: Embracing God's New Season in My Life

Writer's picture: Claire Lane Claire Lane

As I sit down to write this blog post, a wave of gratitude washes over me for the new beginnings God has opened up in my life. 2025 feels like a fresh canvas, it is a new season and a new beginning a season of PLANTING.

A Time for Reflection

With the shift into this new season, I took some time to reflect. What does it mean to start anew? For me, it involves painful endings that create space for beautiful beginnings. Every setback is a stepping stone toward a brighter future.

During this process, I discovered how often I clung to the past, fixating on mistakes and missed chances. God spoke to me very clearly through a word that was given and it convicted me straight away and lead me to repent. Relationship with God is so important and I had felt so distant from him that instead of turning to him in it, I turned to my own strength. Embracing God’s new season means accepting forgiveness and letting go of past disappointments. It also means daring to dream again, holding onto his promises tightly and reminding myself daily who I am in Christ.

Now Is the Time to Let Go

There was an urgency to my thoughts: it was time to let go. This process varies for everyone—some let go of old habits, while others distance themselves from toxic relationships. For me, it meant reassessing time-consuming commitments that didn’t serve my growth, like binge-watching shows that offered little enrichment. It's time to serve, to be obedient and embrace and surround myself with people who reflect God's love.

Trusting God’s Timing

A crucial lesson I’ve learned in this season is to trust God’s timing. Change often takes longer than we expect, causing anxiety and frustration. However, I’ve realised that God sees the bigger picture in ALL that we do. He never leaves or turns away or disappoints. In moments of doubt, when my plans didn’t unfold as I envisioned, prayer and worship became my anchor. I began daily conversations with God, singing life over me and worshiping the Lord no matter the circumstance, gradually learning to appreciate the beauty of waiting.

The Joy of New Beginnings

Joy often surfaces when we embrace new beginnings. I’ve learned to see joy in the little things—a hot cup of coffee, a friendly smile from a stranger, or even the way sunlight dances through the trees. Every day now holds the promise of beauty, regardless of how mundane it may seem.

Stepping Out in Faith

As this new season unfolds, I felt compelled to step out in faith. Faith is all about trusting in something beyond ourselves. I’ve sought opportunities to serve others, share my experiences, and expand my horizons.

I am now a member of a ministry and have been for the last year or so where I know God is central in all that we do. The gathering focuses on God, Jesus and Holy Spirits presence in every gathering we see him move and we are obedient to how HE wants to move. This gathering has become a safe space for expression; hearing everyone’s testimonies reinforces my belief that we all navigate unique faith journeys individually but come together as the Body of Christ. Together, we pray and encourage the acceptance of God’s new season in our lives.

A Bright Future Ahead

As we step into this new season, I encourage you to keep hope alive and explore the endless possibilities before you. God is delighted to guide us through these transitions. It is perfectly okay to feel both excitement and nervousness. Embracing this fresh start means engaging with faith, surrounding ourselves with people who love God and spreading the gospel to those who are not yet saved. Our job is not to change people but to share the good news and help, support and encourage them in their journey with God.

I am so excited to see what God will do this coming year, it's going to be a BIG one, can you feel it in the atmosphere?
