Love to us these days is not the same as it was originally intended. Love today appears to be only when we accept people for who they are and comes with conditions. You see it everywhere "love is love". But TRUE L O V E is having compassion, care and kindness for that others despite of who they are or what they have done.
Love is being able to forgive the little and big things. Love is sending a savior to the cross to die and take on every sin of mankind so that we could have a relationship with God again and become one in the spirit with him. I am not talking about love in marriage or partners (that is a whole other topic I will cover at some point) what I am talking about is the true essence of love.
In the bible one of my favorite scriptures, is Corinthians 1 13:4-8
Complete Jewish Translation
.
Love is patient and kind, not jealous, not boastful, 5 not proud, rude or selfish, not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not gloat over other people’s sins but takes its delight in the truth. 7 Love always bears up, always trusts, always hopes, always endures.
8 Love never ends; but prophecies will pass, tongues will cease, knowledge will pass.
Love endures all things, it doesn't change, it is a choice we make everyday to CHOOSE to love. Not loving is easy in this world but loving someone despite of everything, is one of the hardest things you do when you do not have a relationship with God. When you do have God, loving becomes easy because it is one of Gods natural states. Being able to love Gods creation including his children, you see others around you in a different way. You start to see their hurt, their past traumas, their disappointments, their loneliness, their betrayal, their longing, their wanting to be seen, wanting to be heard or wanting to be loved. It is about seeing people, situations and circumstances from Gods perspective and not our own.
When we love others we are to have these traits (this is just some to note there are many many more:
Patience
Kindness
Forgiveness
Humble/Modest
Truth
Trust
Hope
Endurance
Joyful
Generous
Selfless
Consoling/Empathize
LOVE never ends, it is continuous, it endures. Now the meaning of endures in English is to "suffer, patiently or remain in existence," in Hebrew it is to "bear" and the root of the word endure actually comes from Latin and means "hard". No one ever said loving was easy but in a world of today if you believe something different to someone else you are told you don't love me, you aren't a Christian.
When Jesus came to this Earth he did not come to live as the world but to show the world how to live, he did not sin with sinners he ate and spent time with sinners, he did not roam around with the wealthy and healthy he walked with the poor and the sick. Jesus is the ultimate love. He showed this by being the sacrifice on the cross, he did not conform to the world and he endured it all so we could live a life knowing God and his love and presence.
GOD IS LOVE.....he is all the love you need, all the love you should want, once we start to fall in love with God we fall in love with ourselves, with others. We learn to listen, to forgive, to heal, to hope, to understand, to look at others in a way we would never see them before. We learn to SERVE. Serving is as much as love as possible, it is putting our needs last and others before us. The world will say put your own needs first look after number one but why do we do that? Where is our sense of community and unity? What do we do for others? I know someone that passed away in the middle of a very busy town and not one person stopped to help them instead they got robbed in their last moments of this world. What are we coming to? Why don't we choose to love instead of hate?
LOVE IS A CHOICE.....there is nothing greater in this world than knowing that our God sent his only son so we could live with him as he did not want us to perish and be separated from him for eternity.
